Since 1978, Foresight Publications has been totally dedicated to serving the South African road transport industry, with products that work. Road transport is one of the country’s most scrutinised and heavily regulated fields. Ken Ramsden (07/08/1944 - 20/01/2018), a graduate member of the UK Institute of the Motor Industry lectured in motor vehicle technology to City and Guilds students in the UK before emigrating to South Africa. He launched Foresight Publications in 1978 with Fleet Management Digest, the publishing rights of which were sold to legal publishers, Lexis Nexis, in 2000. Foresight Publications continues to compile the Updates to this loose-leaf publication.

The rapid development of Information technology (IT) in recent years has opened up faster and more innovative means of communication which led to the launch of Road Transport Executive (in July 2013) as a logical extension of the publishing activities of Foresight Publications.
